When a Message of Terror Fails

Hamas has attempted to get its message across with the following video. One funny part is that in taking over this video and making it our own, many have picked up on the Arabic accent. Though my name is Paula, I am regularly referred to as Bola by Arabs who don't use the "P". Similarly, Arabs refer to Pelephone as Belephone and, in this video, instead of urging Arabs to launch terrorist attacks (called piguim), they call the "biguim" - and so, in each version, the Israeli version refers to "biguim" - which doesn't exist. (Full Translation BELOW)

According to Israel National News (INN), this clip has become a summer hit:

The response is classic Israel...no, they didn't terrify us, as they hoped. Instead, what happened was that Israelis began to have fun, to respond to Hamas - video for video...sheer brilliance. They've adapted the tune, made it theirs and sometimes changed either the words...or most certainly the pictures.

In addition to the ones that INN posted, here are a few additions (also repeating here one or two that I loved from their site).

Yo, Hamas - it'll take a lot more than this silly video to scare Israel! This is the spirit of Israel. I saw it during Cast Lead; I see it now. We have survived more than 3,000 years - do you think a stupid video is going to scare us? Sheesh, Hamas, you are idiots....

From the people of Tel Aviv (and Israelis in general):

From the Teletubbies...

From Looney Tunes

Very funny version - it knocks out the electricity and responds, "no problem, the Jews will fix it."

And this one - same tune, our pictures and message. This one I wanted to translate - maybe later...

Rough Translation of Hamas' Song:

Attack! Carry out terror attacks!
Shock them!
Annihilate all the Zionists!
Rock Israel's security!
Strive to engage the Zionists in combat.
Burn their camps and their soldiers.
Rock Israel's security, and expose it to flames and volcanos.
Strive to engage the Zionists in combat.
Burn their camps and their soldiers.
Rock Israel's security, and expose it to flames and volcanos... Volcanos!

Attack!
Carry out bombings! Shock them!
Annihilate all the Zionists!

Rock Israel's security! Attack!
Carry out terror attacks! Shock them!
Annihilate all the Zionists! Rock Israel's security!
It is a feeble state, built on illusions.

They cannot endure war.
They turn out to be like cobwebs,
when they encounter knights.
It is a feeble state, built on illusions.
They cannot endure war.
They turn out to be like cobwebs,
when they encounter knights.

Rock Israel's security!
Light furnaces in its heart.
Raze it to the ground
exterminate the cockroaches' nest
and banish all the Zionists.

Attack!

Carry out terror attacks!
Shock them!
Annihilate all the Zionists!
Rock Israel's security!

The Zionists' hearts turn in different ways.
They are terrified of dying
so they hide behind walls.

The Zionists' hearts turn in different ways.
They are terrified of dying,
so they hide behind walls.

Rock Israel's security!
Light furnaces in its heart.
Raze it to the ground
exterminate the cockroaches' nest
and banish all the Zionists.

Attack!
Carry out terror attacks!
Shock them!
Annihilate all the Zionists!
Rock Israel's security!

Their illusion of an army is incompetent.
It is a thing of the past.
heir soldiers are like mice in a dry field,
draw them near and open fire.

This is great! Push it back! Turn their childish threats into mockery and laughter! I'm sorry the clip of the people dancing to it has been disabled, I wanted to see it again, but I just told a friend it was probably to keep them from being targeted and killed for not being cowed and terrified by their admittedly very catchy anthem. Did you see the parrot singing the first line? Kids singing it to the guitar? I love the Teltubbies wiggling their behinds while dancing to it. Incredibly funny!
