I'm seeing a different side of Israel's humanity which is not very flattering. Glad your son made it. Your reference to Gilad broke my heart too and I'm hoping that when he has no mother to look after him, God Himself will undertake for him. After all, doesn't the Lord say: "As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem." It is light, full of vitamins and protein, and very easy for a sick child (no matter how old they get, they will always be your child) to digest.

Did they even consider that he might have the flu?Findalishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02881549378886491540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4386256495088401444.post-55480730662364544882009-11-09T09:23:25.404+02:002009-11-09T09:23:25.404+02:00We know one IDF doctor personally. I think these doctors are more for triage. Anything serious...my guess...they send them to a real hospital.

Elie has had physical therapy - that was done not in a clinic like this one, but in a full medical center located on a huge base. I think, now being calm, that this center is responsible for giving out notes to excuse soldiers and to determine whether they are sick.

Given how fast Elie recovered...not that the doctor could know that...it obviously wasn't something nearly as serious as it seems.

For the most part, these are strong young men, healthy, in prime physical condition. Usually, all the doctor has to do is decide if the person is faking or not. If not - give them a few days off...if yes, refuse and send them back to the unit.

Otherwise, as I saw from the limping soldiers who probably hurt themselves while hiking with their friends, send them to an x-ray...or not; give them time off...or not.

From what we could tell, they process at least one hundred soldiers an hour in this place, if not more.

Anyway, whatever the case is...at least Elie is home and feeling better.A Soldier's Motherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11370218893899121159noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4386256495088401444.post-82255317115121580612009-11-09T05:39:50.062+02:002009-11-09T05:39:50.062+02:00Idiot doctor.

There are tests that he should have adminstered, and medications that he could have provided to help Elie. IDF soldiers deserve better care than what this doctor grudgingly gave.
I am so glad that Elie is feeling better.SuperRaizyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06742653185025562286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4386256495088401444.post-49129470902210724162009-11-09T04:19:13.743+02:002009-11-09T04:19:13.743+02:00My son is a lone soldier in Israel and once had ho...My son is a lone soldier in Israel and once had hours to travel alone on buses with high fever to see an IDF doctor. I could not help him but only could encourage him with my love and words while we spoke on our cell phones. He was well treated by the doctors and I am so grateful that there are those in Israel to help him when his father and I cannot. However, given that his fever is basically gone less than 24 hours later, it truly does seem to be a 24 or 48 hour bug. He's home for 2 more days and then he'll either go back to base or back to the medical clinic, depending on how he feels.

He's already so much better. He calmly explained to me why the thing with his hands and lips happened...and said thank you every time I brought him something to eat or drink.

It would have been nice to know what was wrong, but more important now is that it just stays right.A Soldier's Motherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11370218893899121159noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4386256495088401444.post-55539864143750761402009-11-08T23:26:23.218+02:002009-11-08T23:26:23.218+02:00Didn't your son has a test for the H1N1 flu ? ...Didn't your son has a test for the H1N1 flu ?
May your son get well soon.

Regards,CarolineCarolinenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4386256495088401444.post-62360402360424300902009-11-08T21:15:49.610+02:002009-11-08T21:15:49.610+02:00So sorry--I was actually worried, reading this pos...So sorry--I was actually worried, reading this post--that your son was sick.
