Right before Shmulik went into t...I think we agree. Right before Shmulik went into the army, he did something stupid and was caught speeding. I called our lawyer and he said something so smart. He said, "Paula, don't fix this. You could be burying him today." He was right. We went with him to deal with it...and the truth is, our presence and their seeing that he's a good kid probably got him off...but not before he was good and scared and realized he'd been dumb. No, you can't pull them out all the time...but in the little things like what happened yesterday (certainly not in the case of that Joran van der Sloot), I think it's a good thing. Yes, his father went to far...and personally, I'd be scared to have the kid in my house.

Beyond that, though, there are cases like Gilad Shalit's father. There are things he has done or said that from a national point I disagree with. Exchanging 1,000 for 1 is impossible...but if I were Gilad's parent, I'd demand even 5,000....10,000...100,000. That's what a parent should do...and that's why a parent can't make the decision. As I said, it is in the nature of the parent...or it should be.A Soldier's Motherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11370218893899121159noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4386256495088401444.post-51894005128946228992010-06-09T01:47:20.443+03:002010-06-09T01:47:20.443+03:00I totally agree that a parent should protect a chi...I totally agree that a parent should protect a child, but then so with reason. If you've been following the world events of the last few days you're likely familiar with Joran van der Sloot the Dutch man that murdered a Peruvian national and was connected but never convicted of killing Natalee Holloway in 2005. His father arranged for him to wiggle loose even though it's readily apparent that he's a rotter. His father went too far.Joseph Singernoreply@blogger.com
