I think it was inevitable, this power we finally use.
I think it was inevitable, don't you?
For thousands of years, we've clung to the Torah, read it, breathed it, but really, didn't live it.
Then we returned home and suddenly, suddenly it all made sense. The trees weren't covered in snow on Tu b'Shevat, instead they bloomed, and so did we.
Spring came and the rains dried up, as we were promised they would. Summer was hot and long and filled with warmth, like the hearts of our people. And then the rains came, as they are supposed to.
And we built an army, as the Torah commanded. And took care of the needy among us. We built a country, a world, a nation, a family.
And we stood tall before the nations, proud again of who and what we are. But they remembered the old Jew, the one they kicked as he walked past. The one who stepped into the street to let the Gentile walk on the sidewalk. The one too weak to fight back.
They did not like this new Jew, this reborn Jew who walked tall with a rifle on his shoulder. The new Jew who stood on our borders and for the first time in 2,000 years, didn't fear the attention of the world.
Now we Jews say, look and see what we have created. Look what we have done. This magical cure, this machine that saves lives. Look at our technology, our compassion for so many around the world - Haiti, Nepal, Indonesia, Kenya, Turkey...
And look, we can shoot a missile from the skies, even beyond the skies. Look, we can protect our people, we are protecting our people.
And the world did not much like this new Jew who had, finally, forgotten his place in their world and found our land and remembered its Torah.
They attacked us from Gaza. The world did not cry out on October 7. They cried out on October 9, telling us to show restraint and finally, finally the Jew answered.
We are commanded to rise up in the morning and kill those who seek to murder us. This is our Torah. This is our faith, our destiny, or decision.
They took our children, murdered our babies, raped our women, and kidnapped those who are ours and we responded. They attacked us from Gaza - and Gaza lies in ruins. It was inevitable.
They attacked us from Lebanon, and Nasrallah rots in his grave. It was inevitable.
They attacked us from Iran, and we wiped out their ability to defend themselves. Next time, oh next time, Iran, you will lie in the rubble as well. This too is inevitable.
They attacked us from Yemen, and now they sit in darkness.
And we, we sit in this exquisite sunshine, in the land of light, days before the Festival of Lights.
The new Jew feels good on us, right on us because actually, this Jew isn't new at all. It is the ancient Jew who fought the Romans and the Greeks, the Assyrians and Babylonians and all those who dared to cross our borders with hate in their hearts.
This ancient, now reborn Jew knows our God, our people, our Torah. And it was in the name and memory of those we lost on October 7 and every day since, that we stand here proud, defiant, determined.
We are Israel.
Eternal. Forever. Inevitably home.
